TAGAYTAY CITYis a third class city in Cavite, Philippines and is a popular summer destination because of its cool climate due to the high altitude of the place. Yearly, a lot of tourists visit this place to take a good view of the Taal Volcano. The city is only 55 kilometers away from Manila via Emilio Aguinaldo Highway.
According to legends, the word Tagaytay was derived from “taga” meaning to cut and “itay” which means father.
In 1896 during the Philippine Revolution, Tagaytay became a sanctuary of revolutionaries. The city also participated in the World War II on February 3, 1945, and in commemoration of the battle a marker was placed at the junction of Silang, Canlubang-Nasugbu roads in 1951 by the local government unit.
The city has a total land area of 6,500 hectares which is 5.14% of the total area of the Province of Cavite. Tagaytay lies on top of the Tagaytay Ridge, 640 meters above sea level. This ridge provides a magnificent view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano.
Total population of Tagaytay is 45,287 with an average growth rate of 2.7%. Majority of the residents speak English and Filipino.

Tagaytay has two pronounced seasons: dry from November to April and wet during the rest of the year. The City has a cool and invigorating climate with an average temperature of 22.7 °C. It also has relatively low temperature, low humidity and abundant rainfall.
The city’s agri-based products are vegetables and mushroom; other products are cut flower and furniture.

11TH AIRBORNE DIVISION MARKER
During World War II, the 11th US Airborne Division airdropped military supplies and personnel on the Tagaytay Ridge in order to secure the city and guarantee the easy flow of troops and supplies to Manila, thus a marker was placed at the Silang Crossing to honor this historical event.
41ST DIVISION USAFFE MARKER
The marker is located beside the Metro Tagaytay College of Business and Arts, Kaybagal South, Tagaytay City in commemoration of the Filipino revolutionaries who fought during the World War II.
This is a 7,328 square foot casino featuring 420 slots and thirty-three table games. It also has three restaurants and a hotel with eighty-eight rooms. It is open 12 noon to 4am daily.

DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY OF THE PHILS. CONFERENCE CENTER
The conference center is usually a venue for training, seminars, and workshops. The Center occupies a 4.5 hectare lot and has nine self-contained cottages, convention hall, lecture, sports facilities, small theater and workshop rooms, and a four-storey residence hall which can accommodate over 200 persons.
JAPANESE FRIENDSHIP GARDEN
The garden is 1,200 sq. meters lot size and was built in honor of peace and international unity. This is located in Sungay East, Tagaytay City.
PEOPLE’S PARK IN THE SKY
The Park is situated in Dapdap West and Dapdap East, approximately 6 to 7 kms. away from Silang Crossing and stands on a 4,516 sq, meters solid ground and overlooks Taal Lake, Balayan Bay, Laguna de Bay and Manila Bay.
PICNIC GROOVE AND LIVELIHOOD COMPLEX
The Groove is located in Barangay Sungay East, and is also a popular destination which offers thatch huts lining the gentle slopes and a good view of the volcano far below.
ST. ANNE’S SHRINE
The shrine is a perfect place for meditations and prayers, located at Sungay West in front of Tagaytay Science National High School. It has a statue of the Virgin Mary and St. Anne.
TAGAYTAY INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION HOTEL CENTER
The center has 2.38-hectare land area and provides first class and state of the art facilities and services. The place is also ideal for conferences, trainings, and seminars.

Tagaytay is an hour and 15 minutes drive from Manila via the South Superhighway or through the Coastal Road. If going through the South Superhighway; take the Carmona Exit and drive down through the Governor's Drive and Silang up to the entrance of Tagaytay City. Another option is through South Superhighway, take Sta. Rosa exit going straight to Tagaytay City.
There are also buses that ply to Tagaytay from Manila on a daily basis from 8:00 AM to 6:00PM. The BLTB, CROW, and other bus companies have their terminals in EDSA, Pasay City, and at Baclaran, below LRT, Manila.
